A stolen car incident in Gulfport ends with a police officer suffering slight injuries after the stolen vehicle slams into the police vehicle.

According to Gulfport police, the incident started after police spotted a reported Toyota Avalon. Sgt. Mary Farrand, who was driving a police Ford Expedition, pulled her vehicle into position behind the stolen vehicle. While she was communicating to other officers via radio, the suspect put the stolen car in reverse, pressed the accelerator pedal and slammed into the police car twice. That is when the driver of the stolen car took off and fled the scene.

Rescue crews transported Farrand to a local hospital where she was treated for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the police, there were no other officers in the area at the time of the incident; therefore, there was no pursuit. The stolen car was last reported being seen eastbound on Central Avenue from 58th Street.

The stolen car had a Florida license plate. The plate number is L4606EM.

Unfortunately, stolen car incidents happen frequently in Florida.  In fact, Florida ranks third in the country for stolen vehicles.  You can reach Miami Insurance Claims Lawyer J.P.
