With hurricane season officially here, everyone is keeping their eyes and ears open for any signs of hurricane activity over the Atlantic Ocean.  But Floridians need to be aware that Florida is considered the lightning capitol of the nation.  Every year in Florida, an average of nine people die as a direct result of getting struck by lightning.  In addition, hundreds if not thousands of homes, businesses, condominiums and other properties get struck by lightning resulting in serious property damages.   Damages could include fire, smoke, roof, electrical and many other damages that may result in substantial losses.

It is important that you heed any warnings issued from the National Weather Service and take all necessary steps to protect life and property.

In the unfortunate event your home, business or condominium suffers property damages due to a lightning strike, you should notify your insurance company immediately.
