An insured owes its insurer a duty to cooperate with reasonable insurance investigations related to the claim. In broader and simpler terms, the insured must cooperate in connection with the investigation of any claim in which the insurer would have responsibility for payment under the policy.  Ramos v. Northwester Mut. Ins. Co., 336 So.2d 71 (S.C. 1976).

Failure to comply with such a duty could result in the forfeiture/denial of the claim.

Please consult with an experienced insurance claims attorney before refusing to cooperate with your insurance company on any request.
