The insurance company, Lloyds of London, sued Michael Jackson's estate following the star's death seeking to void a non-appearance and cancellation insurance policy related to the "This Is It" tour that it had issued to Jackson a couple of months prior to his death.  Lloyds position in the lawsuit was that a physical examination of Jackson was required and it was never completed.  Also, that Jackson failed to disclose material information about his health when the policy was purchased.  As such, they should not be required to pay the policy.  The policy was for $17.5 million dollars.  The case was settled for purpotedly significantly less than this amount.

The lesson to be taken from this lawsuit is applicable to all policyholders:  You must take the time to read the application for insurance and make certain that your answers to the questions on the application for insurance are correct.
