AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome and is acquired via the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) which causes AIDS. The virus attacks the immune system causing life threatening infections and cancers.
Symptoms include fevers, sweats, swollen lymph glands, chills, weakness, weight loss, and diarrhea. Infections and illnesses associated with HIV are numerous. Most involve yeast infection, ulcers/small blisters over a patch of skin, mouth, genitals, cancer of the lymph nodes, skin, lungs, bowels, Tuberculosis, skin lesions, fungal infection of the lining of the brain, mental dementia, and other conditions.
There is currently no cure for AIDS. Treatments include antiviral therapy and medications that help minimize the symptoms and improve quality of life.
