LoJack Corporation has released its first Auto Theft Recover Report. The report was released Saturday, February 20, 2010, and highlights vehicle recoveries for LoJack in 2009.

Though there has been a decline in the number of vehicles being stolen, auto theft still remains a major issue. LoJack's Auto Theft Recover Report may provide important information concerning auto thefts across the state of Florida, as well as the country.

The statistics are staggering. It was reported that 956,846 vehicles were stolen in 2009. Of those stolen vehicles, only 545,402 were recovered, resulting in approximately 6.4 billion dollars in lost assets.

However, LoJack reports that 90 percent of vehicles equipped with their devices were successfully recovered.  They stated that 11,382 vehicles utilizing their equipment were recovered in 2009. They valued these recoveries at approximately 133 million dollars.

"Our recovery report reveals some very interesting statistics that highlight the value LoJack's Stolen Vehicle Recovery System brings to vehicle owners," said Patrick Clancy, of LoJack Corporation. "First of all, our recovery rate greatly surpasses the overall national recovery rate, which has been dropping for the past several years."

The Auto Theft Recover Report showed that Hondas had the highest recovery rate for foreign vehicles and GM for domestic vehicles. California and Texas topped the list for states with the highest recovery rate.
